Do you have an idea for a research study that could impact our field? Consider applying for an Innovation Award!<br /><br />The CTTC Innovation Awards provide funds for eligible CTTC members to undertake research on topics that will impact Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant and other cell therapies. There are two grants available for $25,000 CAD each.&nbsp;<br /><br />Letters of Intent for the CTTC 2025 Allied Health Innovation Awards must be received by August 15, 2025. Full applications will be due October 15, 2025.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">CTTC is proud to partner with Myeloma Canada to co-fund one grant within the 2025 Aldo Del Col Research Grant competition. This award competition honours the legacy of Aldo Del Col, who was a co-founder of Myeloma Canada, and aims to fund innovative research
    in myeloma treatment and clinical care.<br /><br />CTTC has committed to co-fund one (1) research grant up to $150,000 CAD for an innovative project that aims to advance the science or improve the outcome, efficacy, and/or safety of academic cellular
    therapies for multiple myeloma in Canada<br /><br />Award amount: $75,000 - 150,000 CAD<br />Grant term: One or two years<br />Deadline: June 6, 2025<br /><br /><br /></p>

    for this competition.&nbsp; The Peer Review Committee, chaired by Dr. Anargyros Xenocostas, is eager to receive your applications!<br /></span></p>
<p style="background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 13px;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: Arial;">Topics that will&nbsp;</span>advance Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation and/or Cellular&nbsp;Therapies (HCT/CT) are sought<span style="background-color: transparent;">. The primary aim of the grant program is to promote pilot and/or feasibility studies. One (1) award of $40,000 CAD will be granted to the most promising application.</span></span>

This award provides funds for eligible individuals to undertake research on topics with relevance to&nbsp;blood and marrow transplantation or other cell therapies.</span></p><p><img alt="" src="https://www.cttcanada.org/resource/resmgr/media/Kareem_Jamani_Oct2022.jpg" style="width: 250px; height: 294px;" /></p><p><span style="white-space: pre-wrap; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 13px;">On behalf of the grant committee chaired by Dr. Anargyros Xenocostas, we are proud to announce that the winner of this year's Hans Messner New Investigator Award is Dr. Kareem Jamani who will study “Quality of Life (QoL) of Survivors Late after Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant” to measure the QoL of patients who are more than 2 years after transplant.&nbsp;The main aim is to discover why some patients experience inferior QoL compared to others.&nbsp;Factors to be analyzed include other medical conditions, the presence of GvHD, and age at transplant, utilizing siblings as controls. Identified factors may lead to implementation of preventative programs in the future. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Jamani on this achievement!</span><br /></p>]]></description>

<title>2022 Hans Messner New Investigator Award</title>

The primary aim of the grant program is to promote pilot and/or feasibility studies. The grant is for a maximum of CAD $40,000 depending on the nature and budget of the project. <description><![CDATA[<p>Last spring, the CTTC held the 2021 Hans Messner New Investigator and CTTC Innovation Award competition. The grant review committee, chaired by Dr. Anargyros Xenocostas, recently awarded the 2021 Hans Messner New Investigator award to Dr. Kevin Hay.&nbsp;</p><p>After receiving a satisfactory response to the conditions set forth by the review committee for a single combined Innovation award, we are pleased to announce that a special 2021 CTTC Innovation Award has been presented to Dr. Ivan Pasic for the study, “Impact of Frailty on Outcomes of Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation: A Multi-Centre Pan-Canadian Collaborative Study.”<br /></p><p><img alt="" src="https://www.cttcanada.org/resource/resmgr/research_grants/ivan_pasic.jpg" /></p><p><br />Through this funding, multiple Canadian centres will be invited to join Dr. Pasic to determine if a number of measures of frailty and function in patients prior to treatment can predict outcomes post-transplant and potentially allow for interventions to improve recipient selection and clinical outcomes.&nbsp;<span style="white-space: pre;">	</span><br /><strong>Please join us in congratulating Dr. Pasic on this achievement!</strong></p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<p><img alt="" src="https://www.cttcanada.org/resource/resmgr/website_images/kevin_hay.jpg" style="width: 350px; height: 278px;" /></p><p>This past spring, the CTTC was pleased to honour the legacy of Dr. Hans Messner again by holding the 2021 Hans Messner New Investigator Award competition. This award provides funds for eligible individuals to undertake research on topics with relevance to blood and marrow transplantation. On behalf of the grant committee chaired by Dr. Anargyros Xenocostas, we are proud to announce that the winner of this year's Hans Messner New Investigator Award is Dr. Kevin Hay who will study “Cell-Free DNA: A New Biomarker in CAR-T Cell Therapy” to look for tumor-cell derived DNA in blood samples of patients.&nbsp; The results of this study will aid clinicians in monitoring the need for, and the response after, CAR-T cell therapy.
